The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department has unveiled plans for a new Justice Center designed to replace the county’s aging and deteriorating legal facilities. Sheriff AJ Carrel noted that the current infrastructure is no longer safe for staff or inmates, prompting a proposed podular design that eliminates blind spots and improves modern security monitoring. The project would be funded by a 1/4 cent sales tax over 30 years, providing upgraded courtrooms, prosecutor’s offices, and a 90-person jury pool system.
