⚖ Former Savannah School District Accountant Sentenced for Embezzlement

A Savannah, Missouri, man was sentenced in federal court on Monday for embezzling funds from the Savannah R-III School District and his employees. Anthony S. Moon, 44, who served as the district’s accountant and owned a tax preparation company, was sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison without parole. The court ordered Moon to pay a total of over $122,000 in restitution to the school district for unauthorized checks and transfers, and to his employees for funds withheld from their retirement savings but never deposited. He is ordered to self-surrender on January 8, 2026.
