Missouri American Water will launch its annual hydrant flushing and water main maintenance program in St. Joseph and Stewartsville starting the week of May 11. The routine work, which runs through June, is designed to improve water quality and ensure fire hydrants are functioning properly for community safety. During this period, the company will temporarily switch its disinfectant from chloramines to free chlorine, which may result in a slight change in the water’s taste or odor.
