The City of Plattsburg has fired police officer Steve O. McDermit following his arrest for allegedly leaving obscene messages on a commercial sex-chatline app. According to a probable cause statement, McDermit allegedly left four voice messages describing sexual acts involving a six-month-old and a one-year-old girl while their mother was at work. Investigators linked the phone number used to McDermit, who remains in custody at the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office.
