The State of Missouri and the U.S. Department of Education have reached a preliminary settlement regarding the Biden administration’s SAVE student loan forgiveness program. Under the proposed terms, the state would agree to stop enrolling new borrowers in the SAVE plan and transition those currently enrolled onto standard repayment plans. While Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway has publicly supported the agreement, the deal still requires final approval from a federal judge.
