The St. Joseph Animal Shelter is appealing to the public for help amid a critical shortage of dog and cat food. Officials cite difficult economic times and declining donations as the primary causes for the shortfall. The shelter specifically needs adult dry dog food from the Purina One, Pro Plan, or Diamond Naturals brands, as well as any brand of wet food for cats and kittens. Donations can be delivered in person during afternoon hours or shipped directly to the shelter on Lower Lake Road.
