The St. Joseph City Council has unanimously passed an emergency ordinance placing a 12-month moratorium on new data center developments. The temporary pause gives city officials time to work with outside experts to update local zoning codes and address the specific impacts of data center construction. In response to concerns raised by residents, council members also agreed to hold a session next month to discuss forming a citizens advisory committee on the issue.
