In a three-to-six vote on Monday, the majority of council members argued that existing municipal committees are already equipped to review these types of proposals. However, the decision drew criticism from several residents who hoped a dedicated board would give the community a stronger voice in weighing the potential impacts of bringing data centers to the city.
