A 36-year-old Kansas City, Kansas man has died after suffering a medical event while being taken into police custody on Thursday. Buchanan County deputies initially responded to a domestic disturbance call involving Marcus Alan Caldwell, who authorities report became combative and attempted to disarm an officer. After being handcuffed on the ground, Caldwell stopped breathing and was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday as the investigation remains ongoing.
