The St. Joseph City Council will meet Monday evening to discuss a major $19.9 million commitment for long-term closure and maintenance costs at the city’s sanitary landfill. The proposed ordinance includes plans for a vertical expansion of the facility and the incorporation of additional property to manage future waste needs. Additionally, the council will review budget amendments for public safety, including a $16,000 allocation for new fire department equipment and a $93,000 agreement for a police communications battery backup system.
