The St. Joseph City Council has passed a major ordinance banning the possession and distribution of the substances 7-OH and tianeptine. Before finalizing the 7-to-1 vote, the council opted to remove kratom from the ban following public testimony from residents and medical professionals who argued for its daily benefits. City officials state that 7-OH and tianeptine will remain prohibited until new state or federal regulations are established.
